Sr Network Support Engineer - Qwest Communications
2006 to 2010
Provided Tier II technical support and
training for routing personnel in the Network Reliability Operating Center.
Worked closely with internal and external clients to interpret and assist
with routing of traffic across the PSTN. Ensured adherence to Qwest
policies and standards for network configurations and proper LERG entries for
rate centers Qwest services. Provided engineering support to resolve network
congestion situations and planning. Project Managed LERG driven migrations
from start to finish. Provide joint planning packets for assigned
wireless and CLEC providers.
·
Worked with providers on LERG driven code migrations and switch
upgrades to ensure all of the proper connections were established and LERG
entries are correct resulting in traffic being delivered to the correct
tandems, less outages on cut nights and better relationships with the providers.
·
Merged traffic routing and planning functions into a single job
function resulting in the ability to capture 100% of all LERG changes up from
30%-40%. Ultimately reducing outages and allowed for upfront planning
with the customer on switch upgrades or migrations.
·
Completed 2 tandem exhaust projects simultaneously splitting
single IXC/LATA tandems into 2 separate functioning tandems to avoid tandem
exhaust. Worked with over 50 providers at each location and finished
the projects in a shortened time frame.
·
Held quarterly and semi-annual meetings with customers for joint
planning. This allowed the customer to let us know where they will have
growth so that we have the equipment and facilities to accommodate upcoming
trunking and facility requests. Joint planning meetings were also
essential to build and strengthen relationships with providers.
·
Worked closely with Qwest account and service managers to
resolve ASR ordering issues to ensure proper connections were established for
Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC), Inter-exchange Carriers (IXC),
Wireless Service Providers and Independent Exchange carriers.
Complex Translations Technician Tandem/End Office
2003 to 2006 Proficient in DMS100, 5ESS and DMS10
Switching
Maintained complex switch translations for multiple types of
switches. Open NPA/NXXs, new country codes, and build and remove new trunking
as well as maintain dialing patterns for all types of service. Worked
to troubleshoot and resolve issues on 24 hour repair center help desk.
·
Performed provisioning for Interconnection of CLECs, ILECs and
FG carriers to our end office and tandem switching via ASRs. Ensuring
seamless translating by testing before and after translations are implemented
within the network.
·
Added new translations for new class features. Built and
maintained trunking, routing, billing and screening for end offices and
tandem switches.
·
Resolved trouble tickets by using SS7 protocol analyzer or
simulating the trouble and correcting translations within a 90 minute
timeframe.
·
Worked on special projects such as Central Office Upgrades,
tandem implementation and coordinated cuts as requested.
·
Maintained records for end offices in our Qwest network.
Proficient in running PA(protocol analysis) Sessions and call traces as well
as read AMA records.
Complex Translations Technician TOPS Translations
2000 to 2003
Used QMS Translations to route calls to specific operators or
operator offices within the Network to ensure all calls are being answered
efficiently. Utilize translations to screen restricted lines, payphones, and
inmate lines so that they route to an operator for special handling. Data
fill IWS tables for operator positions in TOLL and DA Operator Offices to allow
screen displays to be unique for different types of call traffic. Work
with Nortel to test and insure proper branding on all Qwest Platforms
specifically EBAS, ADAS and the ISN for ILEC, CLEC and Reseller customers who
have purchased branding on Operator Services Platforms. Utilized remote test
access unit lines to test branding and routing using the switch and external
databases like LIDB and OLNS. Captured and read AMA records when new products
are implemented to ensure AMA is correct for downstream billing.
·
Implemented VOIP within the network to allow disconnection of
long haul trunking that was very costly. Converting to VOIP allowed for
better utilization of the traffic resulting in the removal of two operator
offices.
·
Completed project to convert to LIDB based screening allowing
the switch to utilize information in the SCP to identify calling party for
operator handling, eliminating manual input into the switch and saving time
due to a reduction in errors and less translations entries
·
Successful conversion to (SPID) Service Provider ID branding to
allow CLECs, ILECs and Wireless providers to purchase customized branding for
their operator and directory assistance connections.
·
Work with ILEC, CLEC, Wireless and Long Distance providers to
make sure all features and branding work properly for newly established
connections to directory assistance and operator platforms.
